Samhita Kamisetty is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work encompasses illustration, ceramics, natural dyeing, and design. Born in Portland, Oregon, and raised in Bangalore, India, she draws inspiration from her roots, focusing on materiality, process, memory, and function to create intricate and intimate narratives.
As part of her practice, Samhita produces, facilitates, and teaches natural dye workshops in collaboration with various peer-led community spaces and organisations such as Flower Shop Collective, Index Space, and Hike Clerb, highlighting sustainable and circular techniques using flowers and kitchen ingredients to create uniquely dyed pieces.
She holds a BFA from New York University in Studio Art and a minor in Media, Culture, and Communications. Her work has been exhibited in New York, New Delhi, Berlin, Los Angeles, Miami, and Mexico City.
